I&I Sound System
AURELITO & SHAKESPEARE, creators + operators of the Los Angeles based sound system have been contributing to the City Of Angels’ arts and music culture ever since they joined forces as the dynamic duo, internationally known as I&I SOUND SYSTEM. Aurelito and Black Shakespeare brought I&I SOUND to life in the late 90’s, bringing more unity to the people of LA. Their true mission from above was to spread LOVE by bringing music directly to the people. Much of the duo’s thirst for unique and creative outlets helped guide I&I Sound to create their concept of building an original mobile sound system. The two restored and hand painted a 1969 classic ice cream truck and customized it with original artwork, turntables, mixer, amps and speakers… “knowing that music is an occupation that should literally move you”. Their classic vehicle was crowned DESTINY aka the I&I Mobile Sound System. Since the birth of Destiny, the duo have been spreading positive vibrations far and wide… driving throughout the southland to the many different barrios, communities, towns, valleys, suburbs and cities in The City of Angels. I&I Sound have been traveling across the West Coast serving sweet musical treats from their patented mobile sound station… setting up and broadcasting at the many different outdoor festivals, art openings, concerts, film screenings, record release and after parties, grade schools, highschools, colleges, community based events, film shoots, private parties, barbecues, parking lots, street corners, and public parks. I&I Mobile Sound System is widely recognized as a Los Angeles icon and has been featured in many different publications and magazines including; LA Weekly, Los Angeles Times, Trace Magazine, RES, XLR8R, URB, Scion Magazine, Mobile Beat, Sky Writings Air Jamaica, Giant Robot, Planet, Natty Dread, The Beat, Intersection and Spray… congratulating these two innovators on their many accomplishments. The two were invited to program Garth Trinidad’s annual “Unsung Heroes” week on the popular Chocolate City radio show on KCRW 89.9FM and was also featured on National Public Radio “NPR” News in celebration of their continuation to inspire musical, social and conscious upliftment. These two pioneers continue to spread love and positive vibes across the land and beyond… broadcasting different flavors of musical treats making sure to “wake the town and tell the people” what the red, gold and green “Destiny” truly represents. So make sure to keep your eyes, ears and heart wide open and you may one day see and hear the legendary ice cream truck sound system rolling into a neighborhood near you blazing ice cool riddims through the windshield mounted loud speaker.
