Replay
Replay was introduced to hip hop at the early age of 8. As a young kid, he started experimenting with a dual tape deck and a box of cassette tapes. Soon after, his sister introduced him to djing and the other elements of Hip Hop. He became influenced by movies like “Beatstreet” and “Juice,” and eventually picked up a cheap mixer and a pair of Pioneer turnables.
In high school, he met other dj?s with similar interests and started doing mobile gigs around the Bay Area. At the age of 16, he started playing with drum machines as well as four-tracks and started incorporating that into his djing. Eventually, he decided to enter both local and national dj competition where he found himself more successful. In 2000, Replay along with his Dj crew, the Fingerbangerz won the I.T.F. (International Turntable Federation) Western Hemisphere Team title, and advanced to the World Finals where they placed 2nd in the World. At this time, Replay started releasing mixtapes and other projects both locally and Internationally, where he found his love for creating in the studio.
In 2001, he decided to dedicate his life to music, and attended the Ex’pression Center for New Media, where he received his degree in Sound Arts. A couple of years later, he began his career as an Engineer/Producer and landed a position at one of L.A.’s top recording studios (Encore), which clients include some of the top musicians in the music industry such as: Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent, Kanye West, and John Legend, just to name a few. Dj Replay is currently an in-house Producer/Engineer for Apl de. Ap of the Black Eyed Peas production company/record label Jeepney Music Inc. located in Los Angeles, CA. His production will be featured on Apl De Ap’s solo album, as well as other future Black Eyed Peas projects. You could find Replay on the new beat making video game, “Traxx Pad” for Sony PSP, and soon on PS3.
